Islamabad, April 02, 2019 (PPI-OT): 4th meeting of the Standing Committee on Planning Development and Reform was held today at 2:30 p.m. in Committee Room No.7, Parliament House, Islamabad, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Junaid Akbar, MNA.
The Committee unanimously confirmed minutes of its previous meeting held on 14thMarch, 2019. The Ministry gave a compliance report regarding the recommendations of the previous meeting but the committee being not satisfied by the briefing related with agriculture; and thus recommended that the more comprehensive briefing regarding failures of all previous plans and reasons thereof in the next Committee meeting.
The representative of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform, briefed about CPEC projects in detail. While discussing the projects of CPEC Honourable Members raised concerns over exclusion of areas of FATA and Buner from CPEC projects and lack of PSDP projects in the said areas therefore the Committee recommended that areas of FATA and Buner should be included in CPEC related projects and projects of PSDP. In response to this the representative of the Ministry assured the Committee that industrial zones will be created in FATA under CPEC.
Furthermore, the Committee recommended that the representatives of the Provincial Government shall be called in the next meeting for further deliberations on the devolved matters. The Committee further recommended that the Provincial Governments take the Committee in confidence while making projects related with CPEC.
Honourable Members/MNAs Mr. Sher Akbar Khan, Mr. Saleh Muhammad, Mr. Shaukat Ali, Syed FaizUl Hassan, Mr. Nawab Sher, Dr. Seemi Bukhari, Mr. Muhammad Sajjad, Sardar Muhammad Irfan Dogar, Mr. Naveed Dero, Syed Agha Rafiullah, Mr. Abdul Shakoor and senior officers from the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform attended the meeting.
