Karachi, August 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): On the directives of Managing Director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Misbahuddin Farid a three member committee has been established for physical verification of government vehicles under the use of KW and SB officers and inspect their use of allocated petrol and diesel quota. The step has been taken in order to strengthen KW and SB financially and control unnecessary expenses.
Through a notification M.D KW and SB has directed members of the committee namely Chief Engineer Javed Shamim, Director Implementation and Coordination Tehseen Manzar and Director Administration M. Naseem inspect the vehicles under the use of KW and SB officers.
It would also submit pictures of the vehicles for physical verification. In the notification he stated that it has been observed that many officers are using Government Petrol in their private vehicles which is illegal therefore the inspection committee has been established.
This committee would also distribute a Performa among the officers to collect information regarding the allotted vehicles as well as time and place of verification of the vehicle. Committee has been directed to collect the data, inspect all vehicles and mention their allotted petrol/diesel quota.
Committee would submit a detailed report of the vehicles data, inspection and petrol/diesel quota to the M.D Secretariat within next 15 days. Committee would also submit their suggestion regarding appropriate petrol/diesel quota for each officer on the basis of travelling for work to ensure that deserving officers get their due quota.
Later on, M.D KW and SB taking notice of increase in lavish use of Petrol and Diesel Quota allocated for different KW and SB installations, Filter Plants and Machinery directed Chief Engineer Asad ullah and Executive Engineer Zafar Ahmed to survey all pumping stations for inspection. They have been directed to inspect whether the use of petrol/diesel is inscribed in the register or not as well as the use of use of Petrol and diesel in the sewer cleaning machinery.
CE Asadullah and XEN Zafar would also inspect the records for electricity breakdowns and use of generators on both petrol and diesel during the breakdowns. They are also going to look into petrol and diesel theft to suggest realistic quotas for pumping stations. M.D KW and SB has directed them to submit a report to M.D Secretariat within 15 days.
All officers and staff of KW and SB have been directed to cooperate with the committees and provide them with all records. Officer who fails to cooperate would face strict action under E and D rules.
