Islamabad, December 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):Islamabad capital police has expedited legal action against the traffic rules violators and issued 2559 fine tickets over different traffic violations during the last 24 hours, a police public relations officer said.
He said that, following the special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, the Islamabad Capital Police is trying its best to maintain smooth flow of traffic in the city and strict action is being taken against those vehicles and motorcyclists violating traffic laws and challan tickets are being issued to them.
He maintained that various police teams issued 2559 fine tickets to road users over violation of traffic rules in which 216 challan were issued over lane violation, 90 for red signal violations, 449 for using mobile phone during driving.
Similarly, 249 challan tickets were issues for careless driving, 02 over violation of one-way, 11 for violation of zebra crossing, 56 for having tinted glasses, 04 for emitting smoke, 109 for having fancy number plates, 275 bikers for riding without helmets and 185 motorists for violations of different traffic rules.
The Chief Traffic officer (CTO) said that strict action would be taken against traffic rules violators. Islamabad capital police personnel have been directed to ensure implementation of traffic rules irrespective of status and rank and demonstrate patience while issuing traffic violation tickets to the road users.
He further said that, Islamabad capital police is utilizing all available resources to facilitate the general public. He also appealed to the citizens to follow the traffic rules adding that the personnel of the force issue traffic violation tickets not as a punitive measure but the purpose is to ensure a safe road environment in the capital and secure lives of people, he maintained.
