Karachi, September 11, 2017 (PPI-OT):Federal Secretary, Ministry of Human Rights Ms. Rabia Javeri Agha called on Chief Secretary Sindh Rizwan Memon on Monday and discussed the status / progress of Human Rights Affairs in Sindh. Sindh Secretaries Qazi Shahid Parvez (Home) Mudassir Iqbal (Women Development) Iftikhar Shalwani (Law) Dr. Tanveer Qureshi (Human Rights) and Regional Director HR Iqbal Pasha Shaikh were also present.
The Federal Secretary was briefed about the progress of UPR and GSP+ with the specific reference of Human Rights task in Sindh. The Chief Secretary informed that Federal Secretary regarding the work in Sindh on Human Rights viz; Legislation on Human Rights including Child Protection Act, control on underage girls marriage, Improvement of prisons facilities, micro financing in rural areas of the province, enhancement of Budget for Education, Safe Houses for Women, DAAR-UL-AMAANS, Remands Homes for Boys under 16, Sindh payment of Wages Act and establishment of women police stations etc.
Further, the Chief Secretary advised the concerned secretaries to furnish the up-to-date information to the Federal Secretary, Human Rights within 24 hours. Ms. Rabia Javeri Agha appreciated the steps taken on Human Rights Affairs in Sindh. “The Legislation is very exclusively being accorded in Sindh”, she added. She expressed thanks for the meeting to Chief Secretary Sindh Mr. Rizwan Memon and concerned secretaries, expecting that coordinated efforts will continue as a gesture of good will, in this regard.
