Lahore, November 21, 2015 (PPI-OT): Cricketers Salman Butt and Muhammad Asif delivered lectures about anti-corruption code to the young cricketers here at WAPDA Sports Complex. The lecturers were arranged by WAPDA Sports Board as part of WAPDA rehabilitation programme chalked out for the two cricketers who joined WAPDA last month.
It is pertinent to mention that both players have already completed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) rehabilitation and integration programme. However, WAPDA has also been implementing its own rehabilitation programme for Salman Butt and Muhammad Asif prior to their return to the domestic first class cricket.
Speaking to the young cricketers, who had gathered today at WAPDA Sports Complex for trials under ‘Focus on Fitness and Fielding’ scheme of WAPDA, Salman Butt and Muhammad Asif shared with them their experiences after being convicted, adding that the youngsters should learn lesson from their case.
Dilating upon the details of the PCB educational programme on anti-corruption, they urged the youngsters to refrain from unethical practices, which would spoil their career as cricketers. They advised them to play only for glory of the country and the nation.
It is worth mentioning that Salman Butt and Muhammad Asif will also deliver lectures to the students at WAPDA Boys High School Shalamar on November 23 (Monday) and to WAPDA players and sports officials at WAPDA Auditorium, WAPDA House Lahore on November 25 (Wednesday) under WAPDA rehabilitation programme.
