Qaim Ali Shah directs Senior Member Board of Revenue to declare areas of Kachho, Kohistan and some parts of Thatta District as calamity hit areas

Karachi, October 20, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed Senior Member Board of Revenue to declare the areas of Kachho, Kohistan and some parts of thatta District as calamity hit areas. He directed the Provincial Food, Revenue, Relief, and concerned Commissioner/Deputy Commissioners to distribute wheat among 34000 identified drought effected families with 50- kgs to each family for one month on the pattern/practice of Tharparkar District with immediate effect.

He directed the Provincial Live Stock department to ensure the vaccination and supply of fodder to the animals and also assigned to PDMA to start the work for the installation of 1067 Hand pumps to ensure the potable drinking water to the drought effected people of these areas.

This he directed while presiding over the meeting regarding undertaking the relief measures for the drought effected people residing in Kachho, Kohistan spread in Dadu and Jamshoro districts and some parts of District Thatta held at Chief Minister house Karachi today.

The Sindh Minister for Revenue and Relief Makhdoom Jamil Zaman, The Advisor to CM for Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah, The Sindh Minister for Wild Life Gyan Chand Esrani, MNA Malik Asad Sikander, Senior Member Board of Revenue Malik Israr Ahmed, Secretary to CM Alumdin Bullo, Secretary Finance Sohail Rajpute, Secretary Relief Roshan Sheikh, Commissioner Hyderabad Syed Asif Hyder Shah, M.D PDMA Syed Salman Shah and Deputy Commissioners of the concerned District attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that we must have to find out the permanent socio-economic solution of the people residing in Arid Zone Areas in Sindh.

He said that in this continuation, we have planned to establish Thar Development Authority and directed the officers concerned to speed up this task. He proposed that there could be one such organization for all the areas of Arid Zones in Sindh but if there is any difficulty/bottleneck in implementation than we can establish separate organization for each Arid Zone.

The Chief Minister also expressed his apprehensions over the water shortage for the Wild life in these areas specially at Kheer thar National Park and directed Provincial Minister for Wild Life to prepare a plan/strategy for the supply of water to the wild life and to ensure that there should be no threat to the wild life in these areas.

He directed him to come with specific plan in next meeting which to be held shortly. The Chief Minister directed the PDMA, to start the work for installation of 305 Hand pump in Dadu district, 303 in Thatta and 459 Hand pump in Jamshoro District to ensure safe drinking water to inhabitants.

He also directed them to arrange energy biscuits for the drought effected children as well. The Chief Minister took serious notice on the report presented in the meeting, that 10 RO plants in Thana Bola Khan and 03 in Manjhand are still not energized since these installed more than a year ago.

The Chief Minister directed the organization under contract immediately to energized there RO plants on solar energy to facilitate the people for which investment has been made.

The Chief Minister Sindh also asked the Senior Member Board of Revenue to get compensation cheques for the heirs of seventeen 17 deceased who killed in the building collapse incident at Ilyas Abad Hyderabad where he (CM) had announced compensation for the loss of lives.
