Lahore, September 10, 2017 (PPI-OT):Provincial Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Jahangir Khanzada has said that arrival of World XI players in Lahore is a good omen for promoting sports in Punjab. He said that a warm welcome will be accorded to the guests in Lahore and foolproof security provided to them. Emergency Response Cell and a temporary hospital will be set up at Sports Board Punjab in order to cope with any emergent situation or unpleasant incident, he added. He expressed these views while inspecting the site for temporary hospital at Punjab Sports Board during the stay of World XI teams, here today. Director General Sports Zulfiqar Ghumman, representatives of Health Department and concerned officers of sports were present on the occasion.
The Minister informed representatives of the department that temporary hospital will consist of 20-beds besides medical aid and facilities of operation. He said that besides health, officers of all other departments will be present at emergency response cell who will take immediate action in any emergent situation during six days tour of World XI. He said that Lahore Waste Management staff will perform duty round the clock in connection with cleanliness affairs. He said that in case of rain, seven units of WASA and Sports Board will ensure timely drainage of water from Nishtar Park Lahore.
The Minister said that there will be no load-shedding in Sports Board and LESCO staff will remain vigilant in emergency response cell for providing uninterrupted power supply in these six days. Besides, police, LDA, Sui Gas and other service provider institutions will be part of emergency response cell, he added. Jahangir Khanzada expressed the hope that World XI tour will be memorable for the guests and play an important role in the rehabilitation of sports activities in the province.
Director General Sports Board informed representatives of Health Department about the details of assistance being provided by Sports Board and assured complete cooperation to medical staff. Later, Provincial Minister Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Kh. Salman Rafique also visited Sports Board Punjab and inspected the arrangements and site allocated for temporary hospital. He expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by Sports Board Punjab and said that successful holding of such events in Punjab will result in providing opportunities to cricket lovers for witnessing good matches as per routine in Pakistan and added that Pakistani soil will create good players.
