Karachi, May 18, 2017 (PPI-OT): The Secretary TDAP Mr. Inam Ullah Khan along with the Ambassador of Pakistan to Lebanon, H.E Mr. Aftab A. Khokher and the Vice President of the FPCCI Mr. Irfan Sarwana had a meeting with Mr. Mohammad Saleh, President and other members of the Saida Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture at the Saida Chamber’s head office.
Welcoming the delegation, the President Sidon Chamber hoped that the visit of the delegation would lead to the strengthening of the bilateral trading relationship between Pakistani and Lebanese business sectors. The President of the Chamber stated that it was the core concern of the private sector of Lebanon to enhance the bilateral trade for the mutual benefit of the people as well as the business persons of nothing Pakistan and Lebanon and the increased interaction between the public and private sectors of Lebanon and Pakistan are witness to the fact.
He hoped that the B2B sessions that have been planned for the day for the Pakistani delegation, would hopefully lead to enhancement of bilateral trading relationship between both private sectors. Secretary TDAP thanked the President of the Saida Chamber for meeting the delegation. He stated that the business persons delegation from Pakistan has provided a new opportunity in terms of new markets and possibilities for trade on both sides.
Stating the composition of the delegation being multi sectoral, the Secretary TDAP opined that it presents good opportunities for the private sectors from both brotherly countries to interact and strengthen the bilateral trading and commercial relationship. This could be a win win situation for both sides, if both sides made effective usage of the interactions and the opportunities that have come up during these interactions.
The Secretary stated that such business development initiatives could be either on an individual basis or even materialize into Joint Ventures between Pakistani and Lebanese counterpart companies. He stated that the Govt. of Pakistan has taken the first step in the relationship building by bringing this trade delegation and it is hoped that this would lead to enhancement of bilateral trade and economic relationships between both countries.
The Vice President FPCCI, thanking the President of the Saida Chamber, hoped that the B2B meetings that have been held with the private sectors of Pakistan and Lebanon would lead to a better trading relationship between both sides. H.E. The Ambassador of Pakistan thanked the President of the Saida Chamber for meeting the delegation.
Referring to the first meeting held between the Ambassador and the President of the Saida Chamber, the Ambassador stated that he had fulfilled his part of commitment of brining a trade delegation from Pakistan to Saida. The Ambassador also invited the delegation from the Saida Chamber to visit Pakistan during the EXPO Pakistan 2017 to be held from 9-12th November 2017. A MoU was thereafter signed between the FPCCI and the Saida Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
