Message of Punjab Chief Minister on National Women’s Day

Lahore, December 22, 2016 (PPI-OT):Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that importance of effective role of women cannot be denied in constitution of a peaceful society along with construction and development of the country. He said that participation of women in practical field is necessary for making Pakistan strong and respectful. He said that the dream of prosperity can be materialized only through development and empowerment of women. He said that Punjab government has taken solid steps for including women in central mainstream of development.

In a message on National Women’s Day, the Chief Minister said that the aim of observing this day is to encourage brave and determined women, playing positive role in the construction and development of the country. He said that Pakistani women have earned name in different sectors through their abilities and hard work. He said that quota of women in government jobs has been increased from five percent to 15 percent and three years special age relaxation given to women for government jobs.

Shehbaz Sharif said that working hostels are being set up in different districts of the province for facilitating working women while effective legislation has been made against harassment of women at workplace. Similarly, centers are being set up throughout the province for protection of women rights and checking violence against women. He said that technical training courses are being conducted under Punjab Vocational Training Council for economic stability of the women.

The Chief Minister said that 33 percent representation has been given to the women in decision making boards and committees working under the government. He said that a large number of women is benefiting from laptop scheme, Ujala programme, internship programme and self-employment scheme first time in the history of the country.
