Islamabad, May 10, 2016 (PPI-OT):The Sub-Committee of the Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training was chaired by convener Senator Sehar Kamran on 10th May 10, 2016 and was attended by Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, Senator Nauman Wazir Khattak, Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Swati and Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC).
HEC submitted a report on degrees being offered in Hazara University, Mansehra and also briefed the sub-committee about the appointments in Hazara University. Chairman HEC told the subcommittee that one faculty member of Hazara University was sent on Scholarship abroad. He said that irregularities were seen during his visit and investigation is in process.
Former Chancellor of the university said due to different sorts of pressure, he wasn’t able to visit university. Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed said the matter directly comes under KPK government. Senator Nauman Wazir said facts should be disclosed and an in-depth inquiry must be conducted.
Sub-Committee also accepted the report of HEC on Hazara University and appreciated the work. Committee also asked NAB to submit a report on irregularities in Hazara University and also requested the KPK government to work on appointment of new Chancellor for the University. Chairman committee concluded that HEC’s autonomy should not be compromised.
